Fentanyl is a factor in an increasing number of overdose deaths in Massachusetts, according to a new report by the state Department of Public Health. The report found that 93% of overdose deaths investigated with a toxicology screening involved fentanyl as an additive. Massachusetts saw a record 2,359 opioid-related deaths in 2022, and this year the rate has decreased slightly.
