Amherst is working to improve radio communication for firefighters and police in some of the town’s toughest coverage areas. A long-unused antenna on Bare Mountain is being brought back online through a partnership with Amherst College and UMass. The upgraded link should improve communication for ambulances traveling Route 116 and crews working near the Mount Holyoke Range.
