Why Monte is Pissed That Petrichor is Now In The Dictionary: Word Nerd

This was Monte’s one best chance to get a word in the dictionay but he who hesitates is lost. First, the New York Times wine writer, Eric Asimov, already used it-but only once! And second, while Monte TALKED about it on the radio previously, he was waiting until closer to summer to write about it in a published and edited text, as is preferred by Merriam-Webster. He had to write the column AFTER it (and several other cool words) got into the dictionary. But Monte is THRILLED that Eric Asimov tweeted back to him! So, small victories.
