Nobody wants the new trains to succeed more than me. AndI know we’re just at the beginning of this experiment. And I know if enough riders ride Amtrak will consider adding more trains or even a commuter rail in ‘The Knowledge Corridor’. But it’s a bit of a Bill & Ted style ‘How can we get Eddie Van Halen on guitar when we don’t even have decent instruments. Why do we need decent instruments when we don’t even really know how to play’ situation. Or as more boring people call it ‘chicken & egg’ situation. But how many people are really going to ride the train when it takes AN HOUR to go from Northampton to Springfield.
