CONTESTANTS: OLD FLAME (Turners Falls, MA), FIGHTING GIANTS (W. MA), THE HEAVY CALM (Hartford CT & W. MA), TALES OF JOY (Danbury CT), SNOWHAUS (Hadley MA)
SPECIAL MUSICAL GUEST: “FAT” (Local Legends!—RCA Recording Artists)
Each contestant will perform a 25 minute set. As the Special Musical Guest “FAT” will open the evening with a 45 min set and play a 2nd set to close the show.
This is the culminating event of the 2018 season for The Valley Music Showcase, which is a fun bi-monthly live performance event produced by Mark Sherry and held at New City Brewery in Easthampton, MA. It’s literally a mini-music festival in one evening. The Showcase is a juried competition designed to show off the best exciting new musical talent in the Western MA/Central Ct/Southern VT area. Every other month (5 times a year) 6 bands and/or solo or duos drawn from all musical genres grace the stage. Prizes for each regular Showcase include about a thousand dollars of gift certificates to local area sponsoring businesses as well as other prizes. Judges include local area celebrities (elected officials, DJs, well known musicians, and other local figures).
The winners of each of the 5 Valley Music Showcase events held in 2018 will compete for this year’s GRAND PRIZES worth over $8,500! (1) A custom-designed website and a professional photo shoot from Cider House Media in Easthampton, MA (a $3,500 value); (2) 30 hrs studio recording time at Northfire Studios in Amherst, MA; (3) Recording of a music video at GCTV; (4) 10 hrs of recording/mixing time at Rotary Records in W. Springfield, MA; (5) A music marketing consulting package courtesy of PRIA Music Marketing; (6) A custom t-shirt/merchandise package courtesy of Mantis Graphics; (7) a top of the line microphone from Telefunken Elektroakustik; (8) Plus hundreds of $$ of additional prizes.
