Celtic Crossings

Celtic Crossings on The River.  Sundays at 7AM.

Celtic music awakened connections to my deep Irish roots and allowed me travel back to Prince Edward Island and across to Ireland through the music. This year I made a big discovery. As an American, maybe I am not part of a melting pot. Perhaps, I am part of a salad bowl.

Discovering the good, the bad and the ugly of my Celtic roots has allowed me to broaden my outlook on tolerance, justice and equality. I am privileged to share a microphone each week with a series of music lovers who bring music from around the world to the listeners of the Connecticut Valley and the Internet. We share cultures and the prayer of music every day. It is about sharing and sometimes it is about blending.

Raised in Boston, I matriculated in the 70’s to UMass Amherst. I immediately fell in love with the music scene, restaurants and diversity. After a long career in public school my career ended due to a genetic disease. Not life threatening, it did slow me down. I looked for a worthwhile hobby and found Celtic Crossings at Umass’ Radio Station. Several years later the good folks at The River saw a genre need here in the Connecticut Valley for Celtic music. They invited me to join their team. It’s been a privilege to bring Celtic music to the listeners of The River each week on Sunday morning @ 7am!
