Your Northampton Ice Art Festival Guide!

Get ready to see amazing ice sculptures by some of the best local, regional and national ice carvers!

WRSI, WHMP and Hits 94.3 are proud to be co-producing the 5th Annual Northampton Ice Art Festival on Friday, February 13th. You’re invited to share in thrills and chills as icy masterpieces take shape at a dozen downtown locations. Work starts at 10 am on the day, and completed pieces highlight Northampton’s “Arts Night Out,” 5pm-8pm. They remain on display throughout the Valentine’s Day weekend—longer, if the weather cooperates.

Featured ice artists come from diverse backgrounds with different levels of experience and expertise. Several of them have participated in all of the festivals, including professional ice carver Joe Almeida, painter/sculptor Greg Stone, and Don Chapelle, founder of Boston’s “Brilliant Ice Sculpture” who always creates a unique piece in front of Thornes Marketplace.  And yes—another V-One Ice Luge will grace the terrace of the Eastside Grill.

See the list below for sculpture locations.

Thanks to the Northampton Center for the Arts and Arts Night Out, Natasha Yakovlev, the City of Northampton and Woodstar Cafe for helping make the festival possible.

In addition to broadcasting, The Northampton Radio Group (WHMP, WRSI The River, and Hits 94.3) produces, co-produces, or assists on events up and down the valley all year long. It produces Meltdown Family Music and Book Bash and Übeer Fest, hosts community forums on topics of importance to the local community, collaborates on The Taste of Amherst, Amherst Block Party, and The Green River Festival among others. The stations also raise over $120,000 a year for local charities with events like The Cancer Connection Campout, BookBus, and Monte’s March for the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.
