$150,000 for the Food Bank of Western Mass!!!

What an amazing 48 hours…from the food desert of the Mason Square neighborhood in Springfield, through Holyoke, Chicopee, Northampton, Hadley, Amherst, Sunderland, Deerfield and Greenfield, Monte and the marchers marched, trying to beat last year’s total of $65,000. We didn’t beat it, we demolished it! $150,000!! That’s at least 450,000 meals for our hungry neighbors.

Thanks to all who helped, from the top down and the bottom up, as Monte said yesterday. From US Congressmen Jim McGovern and Joe Kennedy III leveraging big contributions from the wealthy and powerful to people like Turtle from the Deerfield Lunch Box donating the day’s tip money.  Thanks to the Lia pace car up front and the Sheriffs of Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin Counties out back, keeping us safe for over 40 miles. Thanks to the local businesses who supported us along the way with food, drink and much appreciated rest rooms! And thanks to our sponsors who help us make this happen every year.

Most especially thanks to all the Riverlutionaries who called in their donations, gave on line or ran up to us to hand us some cash. This is what a Riverlution is all about.

May you all enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

Thanks to our Monte’s March VI sponsors!
