(Northampton, MA) — The Northampton City Council will decide Thursday whether to accept 13 private streets as public ways. The city has been illegally plowing and maintaining the streets for years. Accepting them as public would bring the city back into compliance. Another 22 streets are coming up for approval soon. Ten streets did not meet criteria for public ways. Residents along those streets will be forced to pay for private snowplowing services.
