(Holyoke, MA) — The Green High Performance Computing Center (GHPCC) in Holyoke is gearing up to host a massive, high-bandwidth “public cloud” in support of the growing “big data” industry. Governor Patrick appeared at the center Friday to announce a grant in support of the Massachusetts Open Cloud project. The cloud will consist of powerful servers, and be available to academic researchers, private industry and entrepreneurs. The idea is to provide enough space and processing power to create a virtual sandbox for those hoping to bring big data applications to market in Massachusetts.
