Northampton, MA) – Water, water everywhere, and not a drop to spare. Northampton’s DPW has put a water ban in place in the city. The ban is required by the state because the stream flow in the Mill River has dropped below the DEP’s threshhold for a three day period. Yesterday’s rains will help, but for now, the ban prohibits all nonessential outdoor water use between 9am and 5 pm. That includes watering lawns and washing cars.
