(Holyoke, MA)  —  Plans for a controversial historic district in Holyoke have been changed.  Wednesday a city commission voted to remove three Catholic Church properties from a list of historic buildings in the proposed Polish Heritage District.   The now-closed Mater Dolorosa Church would remain.  Church officials oppose the historic designation. The district won’t be created without a vote of the full City Council.
