Lost Bob Dylan recordings unearthed in NY apartment

A treasure trove of forgotten Bob Dylan recordings have been unearthed in the music icon’s former apartment in New York.

The boxes of acetates were discovered by the estate executor of the late owner of Dylan’s old pad, and sold to historian and collector Jeff Gold.

He discovered unreleased mixes and recordings from Dylan’s “Nashville Skyline,” “Self Portrait” and “New Morning” sessions dating back to 1969 and 1970.

Dylan had rented out the ground floor of the Greenwich Village building, and left the recordings behind when he moved on.

Gold tells Billboard.com, “When I opened the boxes and took a quick look at the contents, I was blown away. They were indeed all by Dylan, all were in excellent condition.”

The new owner of the acetates has had the recordings preserved digitally and provided transfers of all the discovered music to Dylan’s representatives.

Dylan recently made headlines when handwritten lyrics of “Like a Rolling Stone” were sold at auction.
